Luke is 3 1/2 weeks old now and we’re entering the first phase in which he would show signs of colic (if he has it).  From my layman’s point of view, colic is this mysterious condition that affects some babies from about age three weeks to four months in which they cry uncontrollably (can’t soothe) for at least three hours, at least three days in a week for at least three weeks in a row.  Actually, that last part is the actual definition.  That’s right, it’s identified by it’s symptoms only.  It is an understandably high bar because if the definition was only “excessive uncontrollable crying,” every parent would diagnose colic in their baby at some point.

It’s hard for me to judge because I’m working the day job right now while Elizabeth is home at the toughest time of the day.  I’d like to remain optimistic and say that he is not but it is still early.
