Things have begun fairly smoothly.  Our car ride home was pretty peaceful and Luke didn’t decide to do some squawking until we hit some traffic, leaving us feeling rather helpless.  Still, that cleared up pretty quickly and we made it home from the hospital in around 25 minutes.  While Elizabeth is on narcotics for pain she’s unable to drive, so I’ll be the chauffer and errand runner for the next few weeks at least.

We had a visit from my dad, Tony Lucero and the kids — our first official visitors to see Luke at home.  Luke slept the entire time.  We even passed him around for pictures at one point and he never uttered a peep.  I don’t have photos but Dad took a bunch on his camera.  I’ll likely have them in a few days.

The night was tough, of course, but we were very prepared.  Both of us were up helping out the first night and we switched sides of the bed halfway through to change who was the first responder (we have a co-sleeper bassinet, which attaches to the side of the bed allowing access yet safe separation from the baby).  The next night was a bit smoother (mostly luck) and the night after was a bit rougher.  As much as we’d like to put him on a schedule, I think it’s going to be kind of random for a while.  He seems to have sleeps in the 2-3 hour range a few times a day and then we get one 4-5 hour one, hopefully at night.
