Missed opportunity
Try three never happened at all. One thing about IUI is that Elizabeth has to go in a couple days before the procedure to verify that there are sizeable follicles ready to go. Usually there’s more than one and they’ve been just right thus far. Some women who are having trouble conceiving will have follicles that are too small, as though they don’t mature.
Apparently, Elizabeth’s follicles were way off — not because there was a problem — but because the main event had already happened. There’s an assumption that the big day will be on Day 14, but if it happens early, you’ll miss it and can’t do the IUI that month. It’s disappointing and one more month lost but totally meaningless and doesn’t suggest anything bad. Rather, we need to stick with our fertility monitor (the ClearBlue Easy one) so we’ll know if events are happening ahead of time. As I said previously, doctors confirm it’s pretty accurate. Had we been diligent about it we’d have known. Since we thought the drugs somehow made everything happen according to the expected schedule, we missed it.
The bad news — we have to wait a full month for next time (unlike when you find out you’re not pregnant and only need wait two weeks after that moment).
