Eizabeth is spotting and cramping again and we know what this means. She’s further along than the first time this happened so there’s more going on. The fertility center has asked her to actually try to save a sample so they can analyze it. Since this is our second miscarriage, they’re now going to do some tests to look for abnormalilities — the kind that could cause consistent miscarriage.

They test our blood and more. They look for things that might mean this could be a pattern for us. It’s not that having two miscarriages is unheard of among healthy couples, but since it’s may suggest there could be a deeper problem, it’s important that we find out what it is. Fortunately, no tests show any indication that this is caused by something that will happen again. We have no known genetic incompatibilities that they can find.

This is tough to take but certainly not as bad as the first time. It’s familiar territory. We have reason to dispair but we feel like since the tests are negative and we got pregnant so easily with IUI, we’ll just need to give things a few months and then we’ll start this again. The only real remedy for the situation is to keep trying. At least we feel like we have a pretty thorough understanding of what is happening and statistics show that we still have a very high probability of a successful pregnancy. However, each successive miscarriage makes another more likely.

We’ll try insemination again, as early as late July.
