Iraqi Start
Okay, I might be naive but I always thought that subtitling on TV shows were typewritten by humans on the spot. Like they’re there furously typing things that are said on live sporting events. I mean, you figure TV shows that are prerecorded are gone over by humans since there is plenty of time for them to verify what is in the script, what is said…
Plus, when you watch a game, you’ll notice that not everything that is said is subtitled. How could a computer pick and choose what to say?
Anyway, I was watching a football game at the gym, one of the NFL playoff games, and I could hear as well as see the subtitles. After the game a player was commenting on “a rocky” start.
“A ROCKY” start.
…which was subtitled as:
“iraqi start”
You gotta wonder if they use the same translation machines for news broadcasts as sporting events.
